Eye Unit: Uwi Splash (Video)

Before this year, I had never been to UWI Splash.  I've received feedback saying things could have been organized much better to ensure for a prompt start.  Well, what can I say?  I didn't reach there till nearly 3 am, so it was in fully swing.  I arrived with Asylum while Destra, Ally and Saucy were wining down the place.  Fay-Ann took a quick snooze in the car before we finally found our ways backstage.

The grounds were soaked with mud, but those who were planning to close out the fete had already wrote of they pretty footwear and made the most of it.  So, to me...it was lovely.  Time was short.  Hundreds of people had begun to leave as shuttle buses were making their way back to St. Augustine for the UWI students.

That meant de Asylum Family had its work cut out to entertain the masses.  They pulled out all the big guns: Beenie Man took the stage.  Then it was a Godfather's Asylum reunion featuring; Bunji Garlin, Ninjitsu and 3 Sun.  That was fete!  Time was slipping fast, so Fay-Ann took the mic to show de people who is really boss! 

At the end of the night, it was only moments before the sun was high in the sky.  The traffic back to Port of Spain would have been a total nightmare if it wasn't for Bunji Garlin.  It pays to be a highly respected artiste in Trinidad and Tobago.  Just when I thought I wouldn't see my bed until noon, a police jeep turned on its siren and broke through the stream of vehicles so that the cars in the Asylum entrouage could pass freely.  I was back to Woodbrook in no time!

Thanks guys!  That was a beau-ti-ful night.
