Caribana
Kiddie's carnival is an important element to Caribbean oriented Carnival celebrations. Caribana is no different. Ever since I was small, I used to look forward to seeing other childen and even my cousins dancing about in their pretty costumes. For 2009, Caribana Kiddie's Carnival is back.
Yesterday, there was a media launch thingy that I mighta checked out if I was in the city. But, I'm not. I'm in St. Lucia suckas!!!! None-the-less, it is carnival time in Toronto...and YOU deserve to know what's going on!
The Scotiabank Junior Carnival Yorkgate, is a vital part of the annual Caribana Festival. The Carnival, which includes a parade and an outdoor children’s party and awards ceremony, is how the traditions of Mas are passed from the adults to the children. Over 2,000 costumed children are expected to take part in the parade, which will be held July 18th along the Jane Finch corridor. Friday’s press conference will detail the parade as well as the Junior Carnival scholarship and the upcoming Yorkgate Idol contest.
